Magali Romero Sá

Magali Romero Sá has a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Fundação Técnico-Educacional Souza Marques (1976), a master’s in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1986), and a PhD in History and the Philosophy of Science from the University of Durham (1996). She is a researcher with the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz Research Department and professor with PPGHCS. She currently serves as vice-director of Research and Education at the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz. She holds a CNPq Research Fellowship, level 2, and has a Scientist of Our State grant through the Rio de Janeiro state funding agency, FAPERJ. She sat on the Consultative Board of the Brazilian Society of the History of Science (SBHC) from 2011 to 2012 and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Medical History. Her research interests include the history of the sciences; the history of tropical medicine; the history of international scientific relations; scientific journeys and collections; and science, the environment, and health. She is currently investigating scientific relations between Brazil and Germany, France, and the United States in the first half of the twentieth century.
